Posh's foal arrives.

Update from Lara as Frank was a bit busy !!
I just know that all was quiet at Creekyland when a Deno Defender phoned Frank to tell him there's a foal in his field !!
She was born about 6.30, she's so soft and lovely, doesn't mind being stroked or having her legs and hooves touched. The only assistance Posh had was from... Deno!!
They've settled in the stable for a well deserved snooze now.

sleep standing
Word from Frank.
She still hasn't passed all the placenta, the vet came at 9, gave her a pain killer and an injection to start her contractions again. The pain killer was because the second injection could make her slightly colicy.
He came again at 11 and she still hasn't passed it yet - he gave her a second injection.
He's coming again at 1 and if she still hasn't passed it by then then he will have to wash her out and she may have to go on a drip depending or at least a course of anti-biotics and will entail daily visits by the vet for the next week
The vet has been and gone - following the previous vet's visit the placenta was passed naturally.
During this visit the vet sedated posh and flushed out her uterus with saline and finished off with an antibiotic wash which will together with the penicillin injection this morning hopefully minimize the risk of infection.
The vet is coming again tomorrow to once more flush out the uterus and if Posh's temperature is OK then that will be the end of it.
Then an update from Liz who visited.
Guess who was lucky enough to visit this afternoon so lots of'photos.
They were mostly in their stable so not the best lighting but hope you enjoy anyway.
My first view.

Keeping an eye on things through his "window".

But easily distracted by polos!!

Just had a little nap, see mums nose in the pic, keeping watch.

More polos but inside so I can keep an eye on "my gal" says Deno.

Polos....me too, says Posh.

Time to bring babe out to explore.

Posh is on a mission....someone has doughnuts.

Posh had just sneezed but love foals face.

It's been a long day says Frank.
