Hello Deno Defender.

Welcome to the latest news about Deno.

A new chapter begins for Deno with moving home from Cornwall to Surrey. Ruth is suffering from declining health problems and has deteriorated to the point where handling Deno and being able to do the day to day jobs he needs, is no longer possible without help, so after much heartbreak, she knew the right thing to do was to find new carers for Deno. Not an easy decision and not taken lightly but as hard was trying to find somewhere able to take him on with his health problems apart from him being a huge young horse who needs a lot of food and commitment.

Various rescue centres and sanctuaries were contacted, some being more helpful than others but all were unable to take Deno in, the credit crunch and recession were affecting their donations, especially the smaller places that would have liked to help.

Deno Defenders across the country were alerted and spread the word, and one thought of someone she knew who might be able to help....to cut a long story short, Jen asked Frank & family and after meeting etc, they said yes they could take him.

They went to Cornwall and visited Deno to meet him.

A fortnight later, Tracey came up to Surrey to meet the existing 3 ponies and do a home visit ( sadly Ruth was too poorly to travel ). A match made in heaven as there is 5 acres of summer grazing in an orchard with bluebells and a stream, as well as 5 acres winter grazing.

Plus people with the experience and knowledge and prepared to give Deno a home. They already have a rescued pony who was near starvation so Deno & her will be able to swap stories !! He is still Ruths horse but he is on permanent loan to Frank and family. And for those DD who are from Ebay, there is the added bonus that Frank is an Ebayer and will be able to keep us all in touch with Deno’s latest escapades and his new life.

So huge thanks to Jen for making the initial contact and setting the wheels in motion and more thanks to Frank and family for taking Deno ( and his Defender friends and supporters ) into his care.

These are his new horse friends Deno will be moving in with, Ruby, Cuddles & Ellie.

This is being written a couple of days before Deno makes the journey up South but Deno has already left Ruth and made part of the journey, here he is before being loaded onto the horse lorry, doesn't he look incredibly well.

And this is when he was rescued, what a difference lots of love, time & money has made!!

We will be keeping this site updated with news ( and lots of 'photos ) on a regular basis about Deno settling into his new home so keep checking back for the latest news.

Deno travelled well and arrived safely a few days ago and has been introduced to one of his new girlfriends Cuddles. They are getting on well together and Deno is enjoying his new life, all going very smoothly and happily. The story of his settling in, 'photos etc are in the Deno Diaries..
