Hello Deno Defender.
Welcome to the first newsletter in support of Deno ( De Novo ). We hope to let you know the latest news about him, what's he's been up to and yes, how you can help him.
As this has been put together in a hurry to try and collate some info, please forgive us for repeating things you already know if you follow his threads on the internet site E-bay on the FHG board.
We intend to make these e-mail newsletters a semi-regular thing and will then be able to have fresh titbits and 'photos of Deno for you, but this one is just to get the ball rolling as we are trying to reach everybody who is concerned about Deno, but who may not follow all the news on his threads.
Firstly, and most importantly, our heartfelt thanks to you all for your support to Deno that has brought him this far. Without your help, he wouldn't be doing as well as he is.
However, there is a problem and one that has become a matter of urgency about Deno's future - both his physical health and the financial situation.
( Again, apologies to so many of you who are already responding magnificently to his new fundraising thread on FHG ).
Not only are there his ongoing, regular costs just to keep him fed and stabled, but his skin cancer ( sarcoids ) have flared up and are causing a lot of concern.
Deno needs treatment ASAP and although the recent Deno Spring Fair organised by Mozart ( nickname) and supported by many of you, raised a wonderful total which has meant the treatment can be started, we must raise more funds so that Deno has a full course of the chemotherapy ointment.
In conjunction with this, we also want to get Deno onto something that will help strengthen and boost his immune system so that his body is better able to cope and fight the skin cancer. Apparently racehorses have it and if it's good enough for them, it's certainly good enough for our lad !!!
So, we need a regular amount to cover his basic food, worming and stabling which breaks down as £22 weekly for the roof over his head ( livery ), £15 a month to put grub in him ( that doesn't include his polos !! ) and another £80 a year for his worming treatment.
That is almost £1,500 just to keep him alive for a year without his sarcoid treatment, but the quality of life is important and the sarcoids will affect this and shorten his life without prompt treatment, so we need help and money for the cancer care as well.
The chemotherapy costs are around £700, and the immune booster powder is £100 for the first month, and then £50 each month thereafter.
This adds up to approximately a frightening total of £2,754 per year, without any other disasters and vet bills the lad gets himself into !!!!!
If you feel able to commit to an amount each month, that would be wonderful so that we know his basic but essential costs are met each month, and if you are not able to do that, then please think about organising one of the other fund raising ideas.
There is a thread on the Ebay Family Home & Garden board, Deno's Diary, please come and have a look and join in.

We know just how limited money is for all of us, but also just how much everyones " It's only a little " soon adds up and really does make a difference. It doesn't have to be just your donations though, please get involved and ask your friends, family and workmates to chip in to - the more the merrier.
Perhaps you could organise a coffee morning between friends or at work...or a drinks evening ( good excuse for a lively night !! ),
Or do a sponsored something, or what are you good at, what skills do you have and how can we raise funds or auction that.
( We can't afford to donate cash, but are used to doing newsletters so offered this skill, just to give you ideas ).
Keep a pot for your loose, spare change ( all those annoying 5p's ) soon add up, or a swear box. There are more ideas on the donate page..hope to see you there.
If you want to do an auction on E-bay for him, please put Deno FHG in the title as it draws attention to it easily.
If you have something you would like to donate for auction but don't want to run the auction yourself, we have a couple of Defenders who will list it on your behalf so all you do is post the item at the end of the auction...contact Elphaba or Gothic Immortal for those.
If you would like to send a cheque, the details are on the donate page.
If you would like to set up a Standing Order ( no matter how small ), the details are on the donate page.
If you would like to send a Paypal donation, the details are on the donate page.
Should you be lucky enough to visit Deno, we're sure he'll share his polos with you to show his gratitude and affection !!

We hope the Deno newsletters will be well received and become better over time, but if you have enjoyed reading this and feel you could help by sending £1 to him, please do it....don't think " It won't make a difference " or " I'll do it later ".
Of course, we wont refuse it if you send more, but this is to show us you want the newsletter to continue while raising Deno funds.(Please put "newsletter " with the donation so that we know where it's come from.)
There are no "chiefs" but hopefully lots of "Indians " all working together for the common good of fundraising for Deno.
If there are any questions or comments, please see the contact page.
Horses are expensive, but Deno is so worth it.We're sure you'll agree that our gentle giant deserves the very best of everything.
Come on Defenders
Join the good fight,
I don't want my Mum
Worrying all night.
I cost a lot
I know it's true,
But really I'm worth it
And need help from YOU.
With love and thanks from Deno.
